Travis Mills Foundation
The Travis Mills Foundation offers a welcoming retreat in Maine’s beautiful Belgrade Lakes region. It is dedicated to supporting recalibrated veterans, their families, and caregivers nationwide. Our mission is to help these courageous men and women overcome physical and emotional challenges through various specialized programs while providing them with the rest, rejuvenation, and support they truly deserve.
What is a recalibrated veteran?
The term “recalibrated veteran” was coined by SSG Travis Mills, a veteran injured in Afghanistan after an IED explosion that left him with life-changing injuries. Rather than identifying as a “wounded warrior,” he chose the term “recalibrated” to describe his healing journey—adjusting to his new routine and embracing life anew. Our foundation takes this same approach, understanding that every veteran’s journey is unique, and we are here to support them in recalibrating to a life full of possibility.

Family Programs
Our family-centered programs are among the most popular offerings at the Travis Mills Foundation. Recalibrated veterans, their spouses, children, and close family members are invited to participate in various activities designed to foster healing, connection, and fun. Whether located in [service area] or anywhere else in the country, we’ll ensure your stay includes activities like kayaking, wheelchair basketball, archery, dog sledding, ice fishing, and much more. While participation in each activity is optional, we create a schedule that allows families to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the Belgrade Lakes region.
Caregiver Program
We recognize caregivers’ invaluable role in the lives of recalibrated veterans. That’s why the Travis Mills Foundation offers a specialized Caregiver Program designed specifically for spouses, partners, parents, and even siblings who provide care and support to our veterans. This program encourages self-care, rest, relaxation, and bonding with others in similar situations. It allows caregivers to recharge, share experiences, and receive support from a community of people who truly understand their unique challenges.
Warrior PATHH
The Warrior Progressive & Alternative Training for Helping Heroes (PATHH) is a groundbreaking program designed to help veterans and first responders cultivate Post-Traumatic Growth (PTG). This transformative experience begins with a 7-day in-person initiation at the Travis Mills Foundation. It continues with 90 days of virtual training and support from PATHH Guides—veterans who have completed the program. This program is open to veterans nationwide and offers an invaluable personal healing and growth opportunity.
Recalibrate Program
Launched in 2022, our Recalibrate Program is designed to build on veterans’ momentum and motivation after their retreat experience. This program provides ongoing financial assistance, goal-setting support, and long-term follow-ups to help veterans maintain their path to success. Whether it’s assistance with home improvements, job-related needs like electric bikes, or other resources, we are committed to providing the support necessary for veterans to thrive.
