Travis Mills Foundation
The Travis Mills Foundation offers a welcoming retreat in the scenic Belgrade Lakes region of Maine, dedicated to supporting recalibrated veterans, their families, and caregivers from across the country. Our primary goal is to support these individuals in overcoming physical and emotional challenges through specialized programs, providing them with the rest, rejuvenation, and support they truly deserve.
What is a recalibrated veteran?
The phrase “recalibrated veteran” was introduced by SSG Travis Mills, a veteran who suffered life-altering injuries from an IED explosion in Afghanistan. Instead of labeling himself a “wounded warrior,” he embraced the term “recalibrated” to reflect his healing journey—adapting to a new routine and rediscovering life. Our foundation adopts this philosophy, recognizing that each veteran’s path is distinct, and we are committed to helping them recalibrate to a life filled with possibilities.

Family Programs
Our family-focused programs are among the most popular at the Travis Mills Foundation. Recalibrated veterans, along with their spouses, children, and close relatives, are encouraged to participate in activities that promote healing, connection, and enjoyment. Whether you’re located in Northern Maine or anywhere across the United States, we ensure your stay includes activities such as kayaking, wheelchair basketball, archery, dog sledding, ice fishing, and more. Participation in each activity is optional, but we organize a schedule that allows families to unwind and fully appreciate the peaceful environment of the Belgrade Lakes region.
Caregiver Program
We sincerely recognize the vital role caregivers play in the lives of recalibrated veterans. That’s why we’ve established a dedicated caregiver program for spouses, partners, parents, and even siblings who are providing care to our veterans. This program is designed to promote self-care, relaxation, and opportunities for connection with others facing similar challenges. Caregivers can recharge, share their experiences, and find support within a community that truly understands their unique journey.
Warrior PATHH
The Warrior Progressive & Alternative Training for Helping Heroes (PATHH) is an innovative program that helps veterans and first responders achieve Post-Traumatic Growth (PTG). The transformative journey begins with a 7-day in-person initiation at the Travis Mills Foundation, followed by 90 days of virtual training and support from PATHH Guides—veterans who have completed the program. Open to veterans nationwide, this initiative offers a powerful opportunity for personal healing and growth.
Recalibrate Program
Launched in 2022, our Recalibrate Program is designed to build upon the motivation and progress veterans gain during their retreat experience. This program provides ongoing financial assistance, goal-setting support, and long-term follow-ups to help veterans continue their journey toward success. Whether it’s assistance with home improvements, job-related resources like electric bikes, or other forms of aid, we are committed to supplying the resources veterans need to thrive.
No Matter Your Location, We're Here For You
