Travis Mills Foundation
The Travis Mills Foundation offers a welcoming retreat in Maine’s scenic Belgrade Lakes region, focusing on supporting recalibrated veterans, their families, and caregivers nationwide. Our primary goal is to help these individuals overcome physical and emotional challenges through specialized programs, providing the rest, renewal, and support they deserve.
What is a recalibrated veteran?
The term ‘recalibrated veteran’ was introduced by SSG Travis Mills, a veteran injured by an IED in Afghanistan. Instead of calling himself a ‘wounded warrior,’ he chose ‘recalibrated’ to reflect his healing—adapting to a new life and rediscovering purpose. The foundation shares this philosophy, recognizing that every veteran’s journey is unique, and we are committed to helping them recalibrate their lives with new opportunities.

Family Programs
Our family-oriented initiatives are among the foundation’s most popular. Recalibrated veterans, along with their spouses, children, and close relatives, are encouraged to participate in activities promoting healing, connection, and enjoyment. Whether you are in Central Maine or elsewhere in the U.S., we offer activities such as kayaking, wheelchair basketball, archery, dog sledding, ice fishing, and more. Participation is optional, but we arrange a schedule that lets families unwind and enjoy the tranquil Belgrade Lakes environment.
Caregiver Program
We deeply understand the vital role caregivers play in veterans’ lives. Thus, we have created a dedicated caregiver program for spouses, partners, parents, and siblings caring for veterans. This program fosters self-care, relaxation, and peer connection, allowing caregivers to recharge, share experiences, and find support within a community that truly understands their journey.
Warrior PATHH
Warrior Progressive & Alternative Training for Helping Heroes (PATHH) is an innovative program aiding veterans and first responders in achieving Post-Traumatic Growth (PTG). The journey starts with a 7-day in-person session at the Travis Mills Foundation, followed by 90 days of virtual training with PATHH Guides—veterans who have completed the program. Open nationwide, this initiative offers a powerful chance for personal healing and growth.
Recalibrate Program
Introduced in 2022, the Recalibrate Program builds on veterans’ motivation and progress from their retreat. It provides ongoing financial help, goal support, and long-term follow-ups to continue their success. Whether through home improvements, job-related resources like electric bikes, or other aid, we are dedicated to providing the resources veterans need to thrive.
Wherever You Are, We're Here For You
We are committed to supporting you because every recalibrated veteran deserves the chance to flourish. Learn more about the programs at the Travis Mills Foundation. If you’re not a veteran but want to get involved, consider volunteering, donating, or attending our events.
