Travis Mills Foundation
The Travis Mills Foundation provides a warm retreat in the picturesque Belgrade Lakes region of Maine, dedicated to assisting recalibrated veterans, their families, and caregivers across the nation. Our mission is to help these brave individuals tackle physical and emotional challenges through specialized programs, offering them the rest, rejuvenation, and support they genuinely deserve.
What is a recalibrated veteran?
The phrase “recalibrated veteran” was introduced by SSG Travis Mills, a veteran who suffered life-altering injuries from an IED explosion in Afghanistan. Instead of labeling himself a “wounded warrior,” he embraced the term “recalibrated” to reflect his healing journey—adapting to a new routine and rediscovering life. Our foundation adopts this philosophy, recognizing that each veteran’s path is distinct, and we are committed to helping them recalibrate to a life filled with possibilities.

Family Programs
Our family-focused programs are among the most favored at the Travis Mills Foundation. Recalibrated veterans, along with their spouses, children, and close relatives, are encouraged to take part in activities aimed at promoting healing, connection, and enjoyment. Whether you are in New Hampshire or anywhere else in the U.S., we’ll ensure your stay includes experiences such as kayaking, wheelchair basketball, archery, dog sledding, ice fishing, and more. Participation in each activity is optional; however, we organize a schedule that allows families to unwind and appreciate the tranquil ambiance of the Belgrade Lakes region.
Caregiver Program
We acknowledge the essential role caregivers play in the lives of recalibrated veterans. That’s why the Travis Mills Foundation has established a dedicated caregiver program tailored for spouses, partners, parents, and even siblings providing care to our veterans. This program promotes self-care, rest, relaxation, and connection with others facing similar situations. Caregivers can recharge, share their experiences, and receive support from a community that truly understands their unique challenges.
Warrior PATHH
The Warrior Progressive & Alternative Training for Helping Heroes (PATHH) is an innovative program aimed at assisting veterans and first responders in achieving Post-Traumatic Growth (PTG). The transformative journey begins with a 7-day in-person initiation at the Travis Mills Foundation, followed by 90 days of virtual training and support from PATHH Guides—veterans who have successfully completed the program. Open to veterans nationwide, this program offers a significant opportunity for personal healing and growth.
Recalibrate Program
Introduced in 2022, our recalibrate program aims to build on the motivation and progress veterans achieve during their retreat experience. This program offers ongoing financial support, goal-setting assistance, and long-term follow-ups, helping veterans stay on their path to success. Whether it involves aid with home improvements, job-related resources like electric bikes, or other forms of support, we are dedicated to providing the necessary resources for veterans to thrive.
